Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy is concerned with enhancing the occupational performance, health and well-being of individuals where inequities limit opportunities for a meaningful  life.  Occupation here is viewed broadly to include everything we do - from our jobs to enjoying life to looking after ourselves and others to contributing to the social and economic productivity of our communities.

Occupational Therapists (OT) use goal-directed activities targeted to the speciifc person to help develop and/or regain skills necessary for play, work, and living. As an example, an OT may work with an adult who has had a spinal cord injury to adapt both home and workplace to accommodate the changes in abiilty.

At Therapeutic & Wellness Specialists our Occupational Therapists provide personalized evaluation and treatment in a holistic approach. Our goal is to return the individual to the optimal level of well-being and functional independence as quickly and safely as possible.  Our OTs specialize in:

  • Wound care
  • Upper extremity repetitive strain prevention and rehabilitation
  • Orthopedic and Neurologic rehabilitation
  • Pre-op training for hip and knee specifically around activities of daily living
  • Consultation and equipment training for ADLs
